Founded in 1913, by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, getting it’s name from a hill-climb event in Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, England, and the surname of one of the founders, Aston Martin has become a legendary name in the English world of motor manufacturing, building up a reputation making sporty, stylish and luxurious grand touring legends. In 1947, a man by the name of Sir David Brown, who was managing director of a tractor manufacturer, David Brown Limited, bought Aston Martin, thus leading to the company’s next era, the David Brown era. There were plenty of DB Aston Martins, but the one that really stands out amongst the motoring crowd, is the DB5. Made famous by world-famous super spy, James Bond, especially in the film Goldfinger, the DB5 was the car that put the Warwickshire firm on the map. Aston Martin is also one of the few manufacturers that has always made a beautiful car. Aston Martin is still with us, doing what it should be doing.
